  3. this CDROM, you have been granted a license to use the
  4. program with this disk only.  This software is provided
  5. on an "AS-IS" basis.  Quantum Axcess will not make any

  7. operation or the results it produces or fails to produce.

  12. I.Installation Problems.
  13.   (all references to C: refer to the drive where windows
  14.    is installed.  D: refers to your CDROM drive)
  15.  
  16.  
  17.   1) WAYCOOL is written using Microsoft(R) Visual Basic(tm) v3.0.  
  18.      Microsoft(R) and other visual basic custom control (VBX) makers
  19.      insist that to preserve the license of these controls
  20.      they be installed in the Windows\System directory.  Many
  21.      shareware or other programs do not follow these guidelines
  22.      and hence are in violation of the distribution agreements for
  23.      these controls.  In addition, they cause problems for those
  24.      who do follow the rules.  In order to maintain the license 
  25.      agreement, WAYCOOL installs the visual basic controls from
  26.      each of the programs included on this CD ROM to the 
  27.      Windows\System directory during the setup of WAYCOOL.
  28.  
  29.      If during installation or operation of the WAYCOOL program
  30.      you encounter "cannot copy", "Invalid property", or "Invalid
  31.      file format" messages or really any problems at all please
  32.      perform the following steps.
  33.  
  34.         1. Exit Windows
  35.         2. At the DOS prompt enter the following commands:
  36.     
  37.        Copy c:\windows\*.vbx c:\windows\system
  38.        erase c:\windows\*.vbx
  39.  
  40.         3. (optional) type: dir c:\*.vbx /s /p 
  41.            and locate all vbx files and copy them to the windows\system
  42.            directory then delete them from the original location.
  43.  
  44.         4. Restart windows and reinstall the WAYCOOL CDROM by choosing
  45.            file/run from Program Manager or File Manager and type d:\setup
  46.  
  47.      In addition, some programs copy VBRUN300.DLL and other VBX files in
  48.      other areas besides Windows\System directory.  It is advisable to
  49.      search your entire machine for VBRUN300.DLL and delete any occurance not
  50.      in your Windows\system directory before installing WAYCOOL.  This
  51.      can be done by using the FileManager's search under File\Search.

  55.   2) In the unlikely event that the setup routine fails, manual installation can
  56.      be done by the following instructions:  [Remember, this is ONLY as a last
  57.      resort and should not be done until ALL other options have failed.]

  60.     1.  EXIT WINDOWS
  61.  
  62.     2.  At the dos prompt ( C:\> ) type:
  63.  
  64.         C:\> CD \
  65.         C:\> MD \WAYCOOL
  66.         C:\> COPY D:\WAYCOOL\*.* C:\WAYCOOL
  67.         C:\> COPY D:\WAYCOOL\SYSTEM\*.* C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  68.         C:\> COPY D:\WAYCOOL\WAYCOOL.INI C:\WINDOWS
  69.         C:\> COPY D:\WAYCOOL\WAYCOOL.HLP C:\WINDOWS
  70.  
  71.     3. If your CDROM drive is not "D:" then edit the waycool.ini and change
  72.            the line "GamesPath=D:\GAMES" replacing D: with your drive
  73.            i.e. "GamesPath=E:\GAMES"
  74.  
  75.         C:\> EDIT C:\WINDOWS\WAYCOOL.INI
  76.  
  77.     4.  Restart Windows and create a WayCool group and icon in Progam Manager by
  78.             following the instructions below:
  79.  
  80.         1. From the Program Manager menu, select File then New
  81.         2. Select Program Group option and click Ok.
  82.         3. In the Group Name type: WayCool Windows Games
  83.         4. Click Ok to create the group.
  84.                 5. From the Program Manager menu, select File then New
  85.         6. Select Program Item option and click Ok.
  86.                 7. In Description, type: WayCool
  87.         8. In Command Line, type: C:\WayCool\WayCool.exe
  88.         9. In Working Directory, type: C:\WayCool
  89.         10. Click OK to create the Icon.

  91.     5.  If you have further problems, please read the notes above.
  92.  
  93.    3) DISK SPACE - WayCool takes up less than 2 megabytes of harddisk when 
  94.       installed on your computer. Actually system files required to run the
  95.       games take most of that and you may already have alot of these files
  96.       so it can take as little as 600K.  During installation, Setup.exe copies 
  97.       about 500K of files to a temporary directory.  These files are required
  98.       to install WayCool but are deleted after the setup is finished.  If you
  99.       do not have the system files it can require 2.5 megabytes to install.
  100.       If you get the message that you do not have enough free space to install
  101.       waycool, move some files to a floppy or decrease the size of your swap file
  102.       until you have completed the installation then you put them back.

  106. II. WayCool colors and grahics
  107.  
  108.    1) There is a known problem with the 8514 video drivers and large font
  109.       option on ATI mach8 drivers.  Operation is not affected but the 3D
  110.       look of certain windows is impacted.  Also the About screen
  111.       background bitmap is smaller than it should be.

  115. III. Memory
  116.  
  117.    1) Some games do not release their allocated memory after exiting the
  118.       game.  If you encounter a "not enough memory", "not enough
  119.       resources" error or a game does not appear to be running properly,
  120.       exit WAYCOOL, restart Windows and try again.

  138. V. Recommendations and Notes.
  139.  
  140.    1) Video:  For best results use 256 colors or more.  Some games require
  141.               a minimum of 256 colors to run.
  142.  
  143.    2) Sound:  We recommend using an MPC(tm) compatible sound board.
  144.           Windows PC speaker driver will work as well.
  145.           If you have neither, Click Options/Sound so that the check
  146.           is off.
  147.  
  148.    3) Mode:   Should be in 386 Enhanced mode.
  149.  
  150.    4) Memory: 4 MB of memory is recommend.  Please note section III.
